I just got it, the tutorials wouldn't work for me, no text boxes displayedġ) To anyone note sure about doing the tutorials: They go pretty quick for the most part. But, they are not going to do to well going through a well defended area just to get to to a undefended area. The will go after undefended planets on the outside of your territory, and even try to go after ones somewhat in your territory. You can't see whats at a planet if you don't have a unit there, so they won't send their entire fleet on a goose chase if they havnt scouted recently.
#SINS OF A SOLAR EMPIRE MAP DESIGNER MIN COUNT FULL#
I think he more meant that with sufficient orbital defenses, a large portion of a purely siege frigate fleet will be cut to ribbons before he can say 'run'.Īs for the second note, the AI doesn't delve deep into your territory just searching for an undefended planet with their full fleet. Im not entirely sure why he made them seem suicidal as even on easy when an enemy fleet of siege frigates encountered too much resistance, he fled. I think it makes sense for them to try and get in and bombard the crap out of your planet. On the first count, they are generally a medium sized fleet of siege frigates sent as kind of a harassing force. Is it simply never practical to avoid a defending fleet and hit an undefended planet, or is this quote saying that the AI is too stupid to try to get around a defending fleet? The AI isn’t going to go past it and bomb some undefended planet. Try to keep a small defensive fleet on your front line planet. Maybe that's just some crazy coincidence, but from my other games with AI teams, I think the AI is pretty damn smart on the strategic level. The bastard had me split six ways from Sunday trying to contain his ships, keeping me from supporting my partner. I vector the flagship back in and the AI attacking me splits forces, sending harassment forces toward my homeworld and another colony.

My flagship is two jumps away, so I vector it in.and as soon as he hits phase space, I get an equally massive fleet incoming to my outlying colony, from the other AI player. Easy game progresses until he gets a massive fleet incoming to his most outlying colony. A friend of mine and I started playing a 2v2 against some AI. The overall AI seems to be pretty good, though. For this reason, the roving 8x Purge/Destructor/Siege fleets are a royal pain in the ass. I also tend to skimp on defenses and the infrastructure upgrades. I should note that I'm playing with Normal level AIs. *I think it makes sense as a tactic really. Reading them I can tell these things will help as I've been kind of ignoring a lot of defense as well as the Emergency Infrastructure upgrades. Heres a good thread on defending yourself from roving planetary bombers*. With how easy and cheap colonization is in this game, the AI priority is a little.weird.

You can have a huge tense fleet action and then you warp a colonizer in.the enemy fleet breaks off and blazes all the way across the gravity well to get at him. The AI will do almost anything to kill your colonization-capable ships. When you see a fleet of about 8 of them beelining for one of your colonies.ugh. Planetary bombers always beeline for your planet. The AI does have some combat quirks, though: Combat is usually slow enough that you can go make yourself dinner before it finishes.
